With over 40 cities and counting who have passed laws to ban the Pride Flag at government buildings (city halls, police stations, public schools, etc.), Innocean USA teamed up with Tool to develop a custom AR Pride Flag available on Instagram.
The #SavetheRainbowFlag filter is part of a wider campaign with the Gilbert Baker Foundation, an organization with a mission to protect and extend the legacy of the creator of the LGBTQ Rainbow Flag, as well as, advocate for LGBTQ rights.
It is a selection of a larger toolkit available to assist supporters in taking action and prompting them to testify at city council and school board meetings while additionally participate in civic discussions to reverse or prevent future bans.
Now with a click of a button, social activists can raise awareness and Pride Flags anywhere nationwide.
The Experience
After navigating to the Gilbert Baker Foundation’s Instagram page, the filter will automatically open on users' Instagram stories. From there, they can rotate, resize, and record a video or picture of the flag to share on socials along with a #SaveTheRainbowFlag hashtag and their own unique messaging.
