Martin’s knack for emotional storytelling flourished when he started his career directing documentary films for Channel 4 in the UK and France’s Canal Plus. Since joining Tool, he has directed a visually stunning spot for MGM Grand (complete with Cirque du Soleil performers and a meticulously choreographed ensemble of characters), a groundbreaking short for Nikon, and a musically-driven, anthemic piece for T-Mobile.
Additional work of his includes ads for the likes of Dell, Johnnie Walker, Ferrero Rocher, Starbucks, Nokia, and Budweiser. Despite the beauty and naturalism of his work, Martin likes to use humor and oddity to make his films memorable and unpredictable. The combination certainly works, as he has been recognized with awards at the Epica, Clio, Cannes Lions, and New York Film festivals.
