The Martin Agency came to Hannah with a brief that revolved around the idea of no one really ‘knowing’ Geico’s famous Gecko. They wanted to give folks a new look at the Gecko - a bit less saccharine, a bit more banter and realism. The concept would give audiences a peek into the Gecko’s real life, his friends, and the weird comedic detours that crop up along the way.
The Martin Agency referred to the overall tone as ‘Curb Your Geck-thusiasm.’ Hannah used her skill for drawing subtle, yet outstanding comedic performances in order to create a grounded, endearing rapport between the Gecko and his couch-lounging friend. She also worked closely with the DP to create a handheld docu-style approach that would make the Gecko feel more ‘of this world.’
