Ava Berkofsky

Ava Berkofsky, ASC (they/them) is an awarding-winning cinematographer and filmmaker, applying their signature visual style to features, television, documentaries, and commercials. With a unique sensibility, Ava crafts a beautiful combination of enticing visuals with truthful, relatable performances.

Ava’s directorial debut on HBO’s Insecure was nominated for an Emmy to go along with three other career Emmy nominations for Outstanding Cinematography. In addition to creating and executing looks for Apple, A24, Amazon, Netflix and Hulu, they have also lensed a number of film-based art projects with exhibitions at the MoMA, Brooklyn Museum, and The Armenian National Gallery. 

Ava has a BFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, and an MFA in cinematography from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, and currently lives in Los Angeles with their partner and two daughters.
