Aqsa + John X.

Aqsa Altaf and John X. Carey are a directing team based in Los Angeles who love making cinematic films that celebrate the human spirit.

Aqsa was raised in Kuwait by Muslim, South Asian parents while John grew up the son of writers in a small town in the US. Aqsa and John have directed commercials for clients like Apple, Google, Disney, and Amazon. Lately they’ve been creating narrative projects that are a marriage of human interest topics and genre, where visually powerful scenarios speak to universally relatable themes.  

Their latest film, AWAYY, premiered at SXSW in the Episodic Pilot Program. Currently, they are developing a TV series at a major studio called “HEAT” based off a short film they created, wrote, and directed.
